Chaplin, Connecticut Democratic Town Committee

  • WELCOME
  • CALENDAR

This site is designed to provide the residents of Chaplin with information about the Chaplin Democratic Party through its Democratic Town Committee. The Committee's primary purpose is to help provide the best possible governance of the town by being actively involved in issues affecting the town and by finding the best possible candidates for town offices. We also offer support for Democratic candidates at the state and national level. Members are active in all of the town's boards and commissions as well as social and civic organizations.

Like many small New England towns, Chaplin was predominantly Republican through much of its history. In 2003, a newly energized Democratic Party campaigned for and helped elect Chaplin's first Democratic First Selectman, Rusty Lanzit. He was re-elected in 2005 along with a Democratic Selectman, Bob Dubos, giving Democrats control of the town's three-member Board of Selectman. In 2007 Bob Dubos was elected First Selectman. Democrats chair the Board of Finance, Board of Education, Inland Wetlands Commission, Conservation Commission, and the Historic District Commission.

We hope this site will be a community forum for all the citizens of Chaplin and will lead more people to take an active role in the life of the town.
